Marshall Strabala in Shanghai
In 2010, architect Marshall Strabala views a model of his Shanghai Tower (left foreground), with Shanghai's dynamic skyline seen behind him.

Slated for completion in 2014, the Shanghai Tower, will be located in the city's Pudong District, adjacent to the two tallest buildings seen in the left background. These buildings are the Jin Mao Tower (left) completed in 1999, and the World Financial Center completed in 2008. Together, the structures are called the “three brothers,” and Shanghai Tower will be the tallest of the three.

Strabala designed the building while Director of Design at Gensler. He continues to oversee design work for the structure while head of 2DEFINE Architecture, a global architectural firm with offices in Chicago, Shanghai and Seoul.
